Today's schools expect more from their cafeteria programs. They demand nutritious and delicious balanced meals free of hormones. They also expect eco-friendly practices to be followed wherever possible.
The Uptons SchoolFoodies delivery and cafeteria programs meet this desire without limiting menus or choices. No student is the same and they all have different likes and dislikes. We strive to provide a wide variety of daily selections so no student is turned away.
Environment Friendly Delivery Program
- Recyclable paper bags or boxes are used for cold items. Compostable corn/potato based hot entrée item containers and utensils are used instead of standard plastics.
- We serve fruit, veggies & snacks in group size reusable bowls and baskets to reduce individual packaging.
- In schools that have room for a beverage kiosk, we can install commercial grade milk and juice dispensers. In schools with a dishwasher, we can include dishwasher safe cups and utensils, further reducing disposable cartons and compostable plastics.
Composting and Recycling Programs
- We can provide custom built composting and recycling stations. Clearly labeled with text and imagery so students of all ages can understand and recycle easily.
- We can organize school assemblies and in-classroom discussions to present the importance of composting and recycling, as well as organic produce and sustainable agriculture.
Trans Fat & Hormone Free Foods
- All entrées served are low in sugar, fat and contain no hydrogenated oils or trans fat.
- We only use humanely raised free-range poultry and grass fed Harris Ranch beef free of hormones and antibiotics.
- Our full service bakery serves fresh baked whole grain snacks still warm from the oven to our schools.
- We do not serve deep fried, high fat or genetically modified foods.
- When possible, we use organic produce and raw ingredients in our entrees, side dishes and fresh baked snacks.

- Our full service cafeteria program features an on-site chef, supporting staff and dishwasher:
- Our team uses commercial grade plates, bowls and utensils eliminating disposables
- Our team cooks fresh onsite eliminating packaged foods
- Our team uses refrigerated commercial grade water, milk & juice dispensers, which eliminates small plastic and carton containers
- The cafeteria program features a bountiful salad bar filled with fresh locally and regionally grown predominantly organic fruits & vegetables
- Multiple lettuce choices and over 25 daily healthy topping selections everyday
- Salad dressings are made from scratch with predominately organic ingredients
- Hummus, yogurt and many other nutrient dense side dishes are included
